The Government Equalities Office (GEO) held a free event at Chiltern District Council Offices, King George V Road, on Friday, 26th June 2009 to encourage Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) women to enter public life.
The 2009 Creme of Nature Community Action Award has been won by the Shern Hall Youth Methodist Steel Band based in Shern Hall Methodist Church Walthamstow E17. The band is unique as it is the only Methodist steel band in the UK and its mission is to train, nurture and encourage creative musical talent among youth people and promote the cultural diversity of steel band music while remaining true to the Christian Faith. 
The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund UK, (NMCF UK) is to be the beneficiary charity of an exclusive piece of artwork of Nelson Mandela created by the world renowned micro sculptor, Willard Wigan MBE. 
Between 25th and 31st May the UK is holding its very first, nationwide, week long celebration of families.
