There’s no such thing as a typical foster carer. What each carer offers a child or young person is unique. The Adolescent and Children’s Trust (TACT) is the UK’s largest charity provider of fostering and adoption services. We have been finding foster families for children and young people in care since 1992. 
The Homefinding and Fostering Agency (formerly Kent Homefinding and Fostering Ltd) was formed in 1995 to raise standards in foster care to a level that would ensure that the most vulnerable children in our society would be safe and in a position to realise their entitlement and potential.

The number of black and mixed race children in care far exceeds the numbers of prospective adopters coming forward to offer them a new family. New research confirms 22% of children on the adoption register are black but only 13% will be adopted, leaving the rest to spend their most formative years in care.
